Assignment Description SELECTION FOR CONSULTANTS BY THE WORLD BANK GROUP REQUEST FOR EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST Electronic Submissions through World Bank Group eConsultant2 https://wbgeconsult2.worldbank.org/wbgec/index.html ASSIGNMENT OVERVIEW Assignment Title: 1280776 - Preliminary Environmental and Social Impact Assessment and Environmental and Social Management Framework for the Urban Competitiveness and Regeneration Project Assignment Countries: - Mongolia ASSIGNMENT DESCRIPTION To address the twin issues of improving competitiveness of leather and wool sectors and addressing urban industrial pollution in UB city, the Government of Mongolia has requested WB support for establishing an industrial park at Emeelt Ulaanbaatar Competitiveness and Regeneration Project (UCRP). The UCRP will support the setting up of an industrial park at Emeelt, relocate polluting firms, specifically leather and wool processing, currently located in Khan-Uul district, Khoroo-20 and within UB city to the industrial park, and remediate and regenerate currently polluted areas into mixed use development. The proposed Preliminary Environmental and Social Impact Assessment(P-ESIA) and Environmental and Social Management Framework (ESMF) will be conducted to support the preparation of UCRP. The P-ESIA and ESMF will be developed in alignment with both national regulatory requirements and the WBs Environmental and Social Standards under the WBs Environmental and Social Framework policy.
